I started beading 12 years ago followng a bout with cancer. I found the beads to be very soothing and meditative. Over those 12 years I improved my beading skills by taking classes and teaching myself many different techniques inluding wire wrapping, peyote, Russian spiral, brick, and square stitch. But one style of beading caught my attention and has become my beading passion Inspired by the work of Sherry Serafini, Jamie Cloud Eakin, and Heidi Kumli, I started my adventure into the amazing world of Bead Embroidery. I have created many original pieces of jewelry employing bead embroidery stitches. I let the beads lead the way and I just follow! Cabochon, buttons, seed beads of all sizes, pearls, crystals and found treasures are incorporated into my work. An evening bag done in shades of black, brown, gold, and copper and featuring a turquoise cabochon is the piece that I am most proud of. I have designed jewelry for fellow bead artists Nikki Thornburg-Lanigan of Thornburg Studio and Kim Branch of Kimberley’s Corner which they display along with their work. I have taught many bead embroidery classes which have been very well received and well attended. My students have produced impressive work for their first attempts. Bead Embroidery has defined me as a bead artist.
